New Zealand; Kiwi Experience bus, Days 7 - 11 Wellington

Were going to Wellington! I'm staying there 5 nights. I had an amazing breakfast on the 12th, FULL English even with hash browns!!
Was quite a nice drive down to Wellington from River Valley, stopped off at a place called Bulls where everything was called 'something - a - Bull' I.e. The police station was Consta - Bull lol

Wellington Day 1; 12th dec

Got to YHA in the evening and made a fuss about having a top bunk in my room because of my back injury. They changed my room :) to a 6 bed en-suite. I shared with 2 German guys who moved out the next morning. Anyway, that evening we all went for dinner at a Mongolian BBQ restaurant which was pretty cool. You fill up your bowl with your own meat, veg and noodles and they cook it for you. Wasn't too much of a fan of the food though.
After we went home to get changed and a few of us went out for drinks. We started at Base bar where there was a wet Tshirt competition, which wasn't entertaining at all! Lol it was just embarrassing!
It was a Monday night so we couldn't really find anywhere else to drink. We had a couple at a really chilled out place and then went back to base which was shit! Went home at about 12/1!

Wellington day 2; 13th dec

Got to lie in and I'm not with my group anymore as most are going down to the South island today. I read in a brochure that Kci & Jojo are randomly in Wellington on the 14th, so I went to St James Theatre like 5 mins away and bought a ticket! Was $83, but its something I won't have the chance to do again!
After that I kept walking and decided to take the cable car up to the Botanical Gardens, which were really pretty. Loads of wierd trees and pretty flowers :)
Looked around the shops and walked back to YHA. Stopped off and did some grocery shopping then had a nap when I got in. Got awoken by my new housemates - 5 japenese people lol. Went and had soup for dinner and watched Wall-E in the TV room awww Wall E. Early night for me tonight. I feel pretty worn down because of my back and the bad hayfever, and I'm sad that ill be home soon :( oh well. Kci&JoJo 2mo night!

Wellington Day 3 - 14th Dec

I had a fix myself up day today! Uno pluckin eyebrows washing my hair etc. All I did in the day was go supermarket.
Then I left for K-ci and JoJo at about 6:45pm. Doors open at 7 so I thought I'd be fine. The show didn't start til 8:30!! But its fine tho, the DJ was playing some chooons! :) pure 90s RnB and Reggae at 1 point. He played 'in my house..there's a picture on the wall..' Lol deep.
Anyway 1st to perform was Barry Southgate who I didn't know, but he was amazing. Amazing voice. Sang couple of his own tunes and Boys2men water runs dry and somewhere over the rainbow. Aww
2nd out was an artist called Spawn Breezy who was a Reggae guy. Reminded me of Sean Kingston but not commercial enough to be big.

Then came K-ci and JoJo! The show was aiight it was nice 2 reminice about the tunes n stuff and they are F*in legends but they were so old (yes I knew this but..dunnoo!) And when Kci would try be sexy I'd cringe. Also JoJo wasn't there he was an embarrassment. Wasn't singing just blurting and at 1 point fell off his chair. Stay off the drugs maynnn! Oh well I'm glad I went.
Didn't go afterparty just went home. gotta watch those pennies lol.

Wellington Day 4 - 15th Dec

I only have 5 nights left travelling :( sad times. Slept in a bit today again and then went to Te Papa museum. Amazing because its free lol. It was interesting there was stuff about earthquakes, animals, the world, women gay rights etc. I felt I learnt a lot about NZ but Melbourne museum was better!
Didn't do much for the rest of the day. Washed all my clothes which wouldn't dry, ate lunch and ate an apple cream cake mmm. Early night tonight. Old Grandma laura lol.

Wellington Day 5 - 16th Dec

It stopped raining!!! Yay! I had a really good walk around the city for like 5 hours. Looked in a lot of shops, bought a few souviners, walked through Cuba street. How I killed 5 hours ill never know lol. Got back home and sorted my bag out seeing as I had ALL of my clothes hanging around the room everywhere.
Then met my new roommates Ben and Ryan really nice guys :) went to an Irish pub with them, we joked around and drank a lot! Lol it was soooo hard getting up for my bus up to Taupo the next day!!

New Zealand; Kiwi Experience bus, Day 6; Taupo to River Valley

Had quite a late wake up, didn't need to leave until 9:30 :) we stopped off for coffee and I had a huge cream cake at 10:30am! Yum. Our next stop off was at a viewpoint of Lake Taupo which was beautiful and we also took pics with our green Kiwi bus.

Then we had ANOTHER WALK! At Taronga National park we walked and saw some beautiful mountains including Mount Doom and stopped off at an impressive waterfall that you could climb behind and fill up your water bottle with :) that took about 2 1/2 hours.

Another stop took us to another waterfall - Tawhai Falls. Apparently its from the Lord of the rings. Some people jumped off it. Craaaazy! Lol but it did look fun!

Then we drove to the accommodation, which was a lodge in River Valley. The river was nice and there was a bridgey swing thing to go over it. I didn't because of my hurt back!

Made myself some pasta for dinner and waited for happy hour at 8. Had a few beers and played MEGA JENGA lol which was fun! Then we played 'I've never' which was really exposing of me!! Lol but I don't care! :) went to bed about 12am

New Zealand, Kiwi Experience bus, Days 3 & 4: Taupo

Drive from Rotorua today; we stopped off at a Maori arts and crafts centre, saw some carving and weaving and some more sulphur lakes and mud pools - they looked like the moon!
Our guide boiled us some eggs in a hot pool lol. We waited for a geyser to erupt for AGES but it never did :( boo

THEN we climbed a VOLCANO! I didn't want to so I stayed sitting at the bottom for a while until I got bored and thought 'let me go up a little bit' and before I knew it I was halfway up and then I was at the top! I kept thinking that I've come this far, I'm gonna go to the top! I was actually determined! The view was nice, I'm so proud! :)

Went to Huka falls afterwards which was pretty and some people went for a skydive :o

Got to base and had a free BBQ at element which was just a sandwich of sausage and burger.. nice though! Had a couple of jugs of snakebite and then went to someone's room for JD and coke and TEQUILA!! We played drinking games and then the night got messy lol.

The music at element was really good and I stayed dancing for most of the night. I fell over pretty badly at one point though. Don't remember falling but my backs been hurting ever since! Twas a good night!!

Next day 10th dec, I slept in and didn't get out of bed until 12! The housekeeping guys recognised me from last night! Lol i did make it outside though! Took a walk to the pharmacy and the woman suggested I go to the hot pools for my back. So we asked a couple where it is and they kindly dropped us there. NZ ppl are nice :) the hot pools were actually just heated swimming pools but it was nice! We rented swimming costumes and swam around. We also used the sauna :)

On the walk back home we stopped off at a thermal stream. It was really pretty. Then we got back to town did some grocery shopping and I lay down! Lol proper hungover now from last night and my back was killing! Had crunchy nut cornflakes for dinner and went bed after 9.. Sooo tired!! I actually realised that I didn't see Lake Taupo!! Lol ill be back here anyway so ill see it then!

New Zealand; Kiwi Experience bus Day 3: Waitomo to Rotorua

Driving to Rotorua today.. We stopped off at the caves we were tubing in yesterday and we walked through some dry.

Got to Rotorua at about 12 and went for a walk. Its a cute little town. We walked through government gardens and a huge sulphur lake, saw loads of holes in the floor bubbling ans steaming. Walked to a wildlife refuge and saw black swans :) went to Lake Rotorua and then to some more really impressive sulphur lakes by our hostel.

We did mud masks when we got home with mud from Rotorua.

Went to a Maori night that evening. It was really good. They did an intimidating welcoming ceremony where they stuck their tongues out and bulged their eyes. Then we walked around the village learning about different aspects of Maori life.
Then they put on a show - dancing and singing, and a short film about the history of Maori people.

Dinner was amazing! It was a proper roast! Lamb, chicken, fish, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce omg it was soooo good! And the dessert was even better! Sponge and custard and pavlova yum!

The best part of the night however was our Maori bus driver! He was sooo funny. He did 61 accents from over the world and on our way home he sang 'we all go round the mulburry bush' and went round and round and round the roundabout! Lol

New Zealand; Kiwi Experience bus, Day 2: Hot water beach to Waitomo - Black water rafting!

Firstly we stopped off to hug a tree lol and we had another stop off where we walked through an old railway tunnel through a cave. It was PITCH dark! We had to form a conga line just to find our way! It was at a place called Karangahake.

We got to our accommodation at about 2pm and I hung around til 4:15 for BLACK WATER RAFTING!! Omg it was so much fun! We had to wear wetsuits which were already wet and mine was gigantic! Wore booties and big old boots, I was so uncomfortable! But you soon forget about that!

The first thing we did was jump backwards into a river in the daylight. This was a tester lol. It was scary but I did it! It was fun! Next thing we were walking into the cave through a small gap. And walking is no easy feat either, the floor is just rocks and uneven. You could step forward in the cave and go down a foot. I fell 3 times! We did quite a lot of walking in the cave.

The trip mainly consited of 3 backward cliff jumps, paddling in the water in our tubes, doing the 'limbo' - going under a really low ceiling pulling along, being an 'eel' with everyone - we all joined up and slowly went along looking at glo worms..and the walking - the drunken stagger!
So so scary there no way you could do it if you were claustrophobic!

After that we warmed up with a hot shower and some soup :) went back to our accommodation for a BBQ dinner. Was so nice, steak and sausage and roast potatoes and different types of salad! Had a few beers then an early night :)

New Zealand; Kiwi Experience bus, Day 1: Auckland - Hot Water Beach

Early wake up again in Auckland to catch my Kiwi Experience bus at 8:30am! Stopped off at a supermarket then went to an amazing viewpoint of Auckland.

Later in the day we got dropped off to do a 45 min walk down to Cathedral Cove. It was long and HARD but worth it! The beach was beautiful and the tide came in from two sides. The water was freezing though!
After relaxing for a while we did the 45 min walk back up! Even harder as we picked a different route through a rainforest! Oh well we made it!

Then we stopped off for some wine tasting. Had loadsa wine/liquors/port/cider mmm. Got drunk offa shots lol.

We got to the accomodation at Hot water beach which was amazing. I had a double bed all to myself! Went and had chicken nuggets and chips for dinner! :)

We were told that we should go to hot water beach at low tide - 11pm. But we decided to just go at 8:30 lol. While it was still light out. We brought our spades anyway. Didn't find any hot water but luckily it started pouring down with rain while we were on our way home. I say luckily as I wouldve hated to still be on the beach in that downpour! Lol we got soooo soaked! But its all good.

What a longggggg day! I was shattered!

New Zealand; Auckland

Auckland is sooo boring! My flight got in at about 12pm and I got to my hostel at about 2pm. I was sooo sad to leave Fiji but I'm not home yet at least!

Went for a walk after checking in and had an amazing double cheeseburger mmm. Walked straight down the main road and came to a wharf with loads of boats. I then got lost lol but some guy helped me find my way back! All there was was loadsa shops..

Went for a free glass of bubbly at a bar downstairs because I'm a 'sanctuary' guest at base. Went to Dominoes pizza - large pizza for $8.90! Went back to the bar to eat it and had a really nice beer :)

Yep.. Auckland is boring!

Fiji; back to Nadi

I'm staying in Nadi for 3 more nights before I go to New Zealand. Staying in Smugglers Cove resort which is amazing. I'm not staying in the dorms, I've got a girl's sanctuary! I'm just happy to have a bathroom in my room!

1st night I had dinner with the brits I met at the start of the trip. Had some amazing garlic prawns mmm. Had some beers with them but they wanted an early night so I went to bed too booo!!

Day 2, had the best sleep ever! Got up and went for a walk. Found a random wierd shop all caged up, can't even see what's for sale! Came back and bought some souvineirs for people..

In the afternoon we went on a half day trip. We drove to a village and had an amazing lunch on the floor. Then we had Kava at a Kava ceremony. We then went to the 'garden of the sleeping giant' which had a lot of beautiful flowers and trees.

After that was the best part. We went to the mud pool! To our surprise we didn't get into the mud pool just covered ourselves in mud from it. We waited for it to dry then went into a hot spring.. And I mean HOT! It was like a bath. Amazing!!

Came back to the hostel and had a beer at the bar before going to the nextdoor hostel for dinner. I had the $10 special of grilled chicken and chips YUM! The bottles of beer were $2.50 aswell! That's like 80p!! :)
called it a night and came back to the room to chill out for a bit :)

Next day 4th dec I forgot it was Sunday but still went into Nadi town to look around. Most of the shops were shut and really annoying people would constantly come up to you and try and get you into their shop and drink kava! Lol.
Went to a market and bought some random crap for ppl lol then went to Chicken Express which was nowhere near as nice as kfc!

Had a nap when I got home and then went to the beach the water was so warm! Went nextdoor for $10 dinner again - pasta and chicken mmm. Came back to Smugglers for a fire show which was mainly dancing but it was all amazing. Played games afterwards and of course I got picked on. I was the cat and the rat in the game where they couldn't catch eachother and everyone else was a circle seperating them! Loadsa fun!!

Fiji; Bounty Island; Mamanuca islands

Got to Bounty pretty late. The dorms were amazing! Well, in comparison to Waya LaiLai! They looked so clean and pretty! Lol we had dinner which was amazing (again!) And I had a HOT shower! Omg it felt so good!

After we went to the bar and I got a MaiTai, it was the strongest drink EVER! I swear it just felt like I was drinking pure rum! Played some drinking/card games and everyone got pretty drunk! The staff there are awful! Stay away from Matthew!

Next day 2nd we had breakfast then watched these cute little turtles get fed. Aww. They swim just like the turtles in Finding Nemo!

Actually had CHIPS for lunch :) and hung around the pool and beach until it started pouring down with rain! Waited and waited for the boat to come on Fiji time, but it eventually came! Didn't take that long to get back to the port. My Fiji island adventure ends :(

Fiji; Waya LaiLai

OMG its December!! Pinch punch first day of the month!! Its CHRISTMAS month!! But means I only have 20 days left of travelling :(

Anyway, Waya Lailai was nice. Beautiful mountainous (!) Scenery and the huts were on a hill looking out to sea.

We went to the beach and did weaving, I made a bookmark and I made a shell bracelet :) it poured with rain half way through we got sooo soaked!

We had dinner and watched a bula dance show again and took part in some dance games. Had a couple of drinks but Waya LaiLai is really chilled out so I had an early night. Had the worst sleep ever! Insects in my bed! :(

Next day 30th I woke up to amazing weather. We left to go to the other side of the island to watch a school graduation and rugby match. The kids were so cute wearing mortar boards! The ceremony really dragged though! The rugby was interesting, I don't understand how they're able to play in the sweltering heat!

Got back had dinner and saw some more Fijian dancing. Had more drinks tonight, played truth or dare and only went home when the electricity went off! I didn't want to sleep in the dorm! I changed beds though so I was fine!

Next day 1st Dec I went swimming with SHARKS!! It was amazing! We literally got in a boat to the middle of the ocean and had to jump in! We snorkeled a little further out and swam above a reef. The guys broke fish apart and reef shark came! It was seriously amazing.

Had an amazing lunch of spaghetti bolognase and cheese and crackers and sat around the beach waiting for the boat down to Bounty. Have to say Waya Lailai was my least favourite resort. I couldve easily stayed another night at Korovo and Bounty and skipped it altogether. Oh well.

Fiji; Naviti island; Korovo

Had doughnuts for breakfast and waited around for ages before leaving for Korovo.

When we arrived I waited around for a bit and nearly walked into a volunteer group's dorm. Then after asking where I should be I got told I would be sharing a room with another guy (!) I went in and there was only 1 bed! She made a mistake and I ended up with my own room! :)

Dinner was chicken and some wierd smushy thing and we had a dance show put on for us. The Fijian men were HOT! We walked down to a nearby resort to meet other people and sat around a camp fire for a while.

We eventually came back to Korovo and we had an ipod war lol. Other ppl were playing their ipod and I asked nicely if I could play mine! They booed when I stopped it so I patiently waited for the song to stop. I put my ipod on and 2 seconds later they turned mine off and put theirs on!! Soooo rude! So we despised them for the rest of the night!! Lol I ended up just listening to my ipod with one of the staff members Ziggy by the pool.

Next day 29th I woke up for breakfast at 8 and they allowed me to check out late :)
Had pizza for lunch and walked through a concrete path through the sea. I sat around on a hammock for a bit and did a Bula dance class.
Our boat came at 3:30 to take us to Waya LaiLai :( sad to leave but hopefully Waya LaiLai will be nice!

Fiji; Nacula Island; Nabua Lodge

OMG I love Fiji! It's amazing!! I feel sooo lucky to be here!

Anyway! Today I go to an island. 6am wake up hurt but I was excited. We had breakfast and got a coach to Port Denarau, where we waited for our boat. From Nadi to my island took 5 hours!! I just slept it was pretty comfortable! I'm just glad I worked out what the hell I was doing! I had no idea!!

When we got to Nacula island you have to get off the big boat onto a small boat. The island looked amazing. We had lunch when we arrived and everyone got pasta and mince and I got a sardine sandwich :(

We hung around all day and had afternoon tea with amazing cakes :) later we had dinner which was also amazing! It was Fijian!
Then the fun started lol.

We sang a Fijian song then did the Bula dance! Which was a cross between 'saturday' and the macarena lol. Then we had a competition, we all danced and when Sarah shouted either Gin, Whiskey or Soda we all had to do something. I.e. Boys and girls seperate. It was fun cept 1 time I didn't hear her and kept dancing alone lol

After that we played truth or dare and I became known as the evil one lol. Everyone was scared of me! Haha there were people naked, people sucking each other's toes, making out with trees, giving head to bottles. Loool so much fun! We then went to someone's room and played ipod til the electricity cut off. :( luckily Sarah came and got us and took us to another resort where we could hear music coming from!

The walk was dark and rainforesty and for some reason I was leading! We got there and there was only the Fijian staff and the Aussie owner lol. it was good though we danced and drank then walked back. A few of us went into the sea and randomly sat in a boat lol. I brought sooo much sand into my bed ugh!! What a fun fun night ;)

Next day 27th I was an hour late for breakfast, but luckily they left me some coz they said they knew I'd come :) it was amazing! Pancakes, toast, fruit yum!

I went back to bed and then woke up and got ready for dinner. My hangover came in the evening so I could barely eat the amazing gourmet dinner of pumpkin soup and chicken on yam :)

After dinner we played a heads and tails game and I won a free drink, played cards for a while then had an early night :) had the worst sleep ever though. Spent the whole night scratching my bites on the sand in my bed!!

FIJI! Sydney > Nadi

Actually had a pleasant sleep on the greyhound, got into Sydney about 8:30am and had a BIG breakfast! Mmm bacon toast hash brown beans :)

Spent the day doing little things like getting waxed and putting photos on a DVD. We got ready later and went to Pizza Hut :) nowhere near as good as home though.

We went to the Three monkeys pub, had 1 drink and got kinda bored so went to Side bar at Wake up.. I drank way more than I intended to lol but managed to get up at 8 the next morning for my flight to Fiji. Aww bye bye Laura! I'm by myself again!!

Oh well! My flight was decent. Was a little delayed but I arrived in the end. As soon as I got off the plane, the smell made me happy! It smelt tropical, like Grenada or South east Asia! Yay! Heat!!

Got my transfer to Nadi Bay resort which was pretty decent. There was a frog jumping around the kitchen though lol. Went to bed early - 6am wake up!! Gots to get my boat to the islands!! :)

Australia; Melbourne

'Neighbours..everybody needs good neighbours!!'
Lol I've got 4 days here..weathers kinda cold tho brrrr

Day 1:
Got into Melbourne from our overnight bus at 8am sunday morning. Walked and found our way to Nomads hostel but couldn't check in til 2pm! Decided last minute to do a Phillip island tour.
Went to: Moonlit sanctuary and saw Emus, Dingoes, Koalas, Owls, Wombats and Wallabees. Unfortunately the Tazmanian devil was sleeping! :(
Went to: Churchill Island, saw sheep sheering and boomerang throwing. Went to a chocolate factory and Woolami beach and a Koala conservation centre.
Then FINALLY to Phillip island to see the little Penguins! It was amazing! They all came out of the water in groups after sunset! Soo cute! :)

Day 2:
SUCH a lazy day! Slept til 12 n didn't get out of bed til like 2! Got up to book our NEIGHBOURS NIGHT! :) left0 at 6:15 and waited around for ages in the pub, then Steph Scully, Dr Karl and another neighbours star came out! They came round to everyone for pics and we did a quiz which we didn't win. :(
We got to write questions to the stars and I wrote to Karl 'can you serenade me tonight? And he did! Both me and Laura!
They had a singing competition and because I sang loudly 'god save our queen' the host was forcing me to get up so I forced Laura to get up! We sang 'Neighbours' and forgot the words a bit so got BOOED! Loool. The embarrassment!
Later we watched Karl's band play, pretty decent actually. Had a chipbab and went home, its quiet on a Monday! Yay aine was in our room :)

Day 3:
Next day another lazy one. Didn't do much until going out that night. Mine, Laura and Aine's last night out 2gether! :( we had a couple drinks in Nomads bar then went onto Fitzroy - the black cat. REALLY chilled out! We met up with a few of Aine's friends and went to another area to find a club. Apparently Melbourne's quiet on a tuesday too lol. We couldn't get into Cheers bar because we only had our driving licences (needed passport) so ended up in Room. Pretty decent music, had a good night :)

Day 4:
Went to Melbourne museum. Had to wake up early coz check outs at 10. :(
The museum was really good! There was a mind and body section, a section with LOADS of stuffed animals, underwater section, bugs section, a 3D cinema film about volcanoes etc.etc. I learnt so much!
Got on our bus back to Sydney at 8pm. Its actually more comfortable than the first one! Can't believe going to Fiji in 2 days!! Bye bye Melbourne!

Australia; Sydney Days 6 - 9

Day 6:
My friend Laura came to visit me from London :) I was still in bed when she arrived in our room at like 9am..
we got ready and went to circular quay acually walked around and into the opera house and across Sydney harbour bridge.
We then went to the botanical gardens and went on a train that took us around the gardens. We saw bats! :s
Came back to wake up and made a pasta dinner then went to a couple of bars nearby - Side bar, Star bar and Scruffy murphys, really good live music.

Day 7:
Today was a miserable day! Raining like London rain!! We used today to laze about a bit and I did my laundry which was such a hassle! We booked our overnight bus to Melbourne! (Yay) and found China town. Probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had! Uurgh! Oh well. A quiet night tonight.

Day 8:
Had to check out of Wake up and checked into YHA hostel. Really nice hostel but we were so busy we didn't take advantage of the pool and cinema room!
Went to the Sydney Tower eye - watched a 4D film about Sydney and got wet and breezed on lol. Had a drink at Darling harbour then came back home made dinner and went out to Kings Cross! A good night, we went to Sugar mill, Empire, Goldfish, World bar. Got chicken wings and went bed at 5am :)

Day 9:
Checked out of YHA and procrastinated for the whole morning, we then went to Manly. Got the ferry over and hung out on th beach for a couple hours. The water was freezing cold though and we saw jellyfish!!
Got our overnight train to Melbourne at 8am, it was sooo uncomfortable and there was a poisionous spider next to my head!! Oh well, we made it to Melbourne alive!!

Australia; Sydney! Days 1-5

2 weeks in Sydney! But started to consider going to Melbourne in the time as 2 weeks is too much!!

Day 1 11th:
Got to Sydney at about 6pm, booked into my hostel at Nomads. Liked it a lot! You get free pasta and rice all the time, they randomly give away free alcohol and do free walks. My room was cozy too :) 6 bed room with bathroom for $31.
Went for a drink at the Sydney Opera house bar to say farewell to my group :( Circular quay was beautiful, the opera house at full moon :)

Day 2 12th:
Didn't get up til 12pm lol. Met with Aine and went for a walk, went to Market city, walked around the markets and the shops and had chinese - got so bloated!
Went back to our hostels to get ready to go out. Met up with Kyle and his gf (contiki buddies) to go drinking! We drank some wine in Nomad's kitchen then went to the Hilton for free drinks! (Courtesy of Kyle!) Then walked to Darling Harbour and went to Cargo bar for more drinks. Saw fireworks :) still ill with my chest infection so left quite early!! Was a good night!

Day 3 13th:
Went to A&E at Sydney Hospital to sort my chest infection out. Got seen really quickly and got given meds. Didn't even have to pay! :) Had a chicken wrap from McDonalds again lol. Walked back to Circular Quay and looked at the markets at the Rocks. Had a quick drink and chips at Wake up and walked back to my hostel for another recovery sleep!!

Day 4 14th:
Went on a Sightseeing bus around Sydney! Did a Sydney tour and saw great views of the skyline, the quay (again!) And got off at Kings cross to have a look, saw the big cocacola sign! Did another tour to Bondi beach - not too impressed! Doesn't compare to Thailand beaches! Went back to Aine's friend's house for dinner, she made us burgers and potatoes! Yum! So nice having a cooked meal!!

Day 5 15th:
Checked out of Nomads today and came over to Wake up! Just for a change of scenery. Made our own breakfast of beans on toast and ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch :)
Got the 2 hour train ride to Katoomba and then did a bus tour of the blue mountains. Saw Katoomba cascades and did a walk from Honeymoon lookout to Echo point to see the 3 sisters. Also stopped at Leura village (its like my name!!) Came back to wake up and had cup a soup for dinner, did my nails in the TV room and sat in bed catching up on my journal and this blog lol.. Its nearly midnight now!! Phew!

Australia; Crescent Head

Drove to crescent head for surfing :)

Stopped at a big banana for lunch lol and I got a banana!

Surfing was loads of fun! We went to a Tea tree lake which looked like Coke! Wanted to drink it! We practised for a while in the lake and I stood up for a second!! Yay!

We then went to the beach which was ridiculously freezing! My legs were numb! Not good for my illness! We couldn't surf at the beach though as conditions were too rough.

Went back to the lake and tried and tried - I fell in sooo much!! Was soo much fun but really tiring though.

We had Mexican for dinner mmm vegetarian burritos :) its our last night on the tour :(

Sat around a camp fire for a bit and went home to rest again - STILL SICK!! Arararararrrrrgghhhhhh!!

Australia; Byron Bay

Crossed over to New South Wales on the 8th :) the clocks went forward another hour for me! 11 hours ahead of London now!

We had a rainforest walk on the way and saw a natural arch and a waterfall.

Got to our accomodation which was really nice! Like a little flat that couldve easily slept 6! There was 3 of us and I had my own double (granny) room lol

Had a walk around Byron Bay and spent ages trying to find food! Eventually had a falafel wrap! We were trying to find something healthy and cheap!

Byron bays a hippie town with quaint little shops, nice and peaceful! We went to the beach and made sandcastles and made someone a mermaid lol.

In the eveing we went to 'the Rails' for dinner, yummy chicken burger. I had 1 whiskey but still sick so went home reasonably early after 1 more drink from Woodys bar :)

Next day 9th we had a cooked breakfast from Sarah and Woody :) had to buy another camera as mine stopped working!!

We walked to the Lighthouse without knowing what we were in for! Had to walk through the rainforest loads of stairs and up hills omg but we made it!! Was great views!

Went back to the beach and played a bit in the rough waves! Had a BBQ dinner cooked by Woody and Sarah again tried Kangaroo, was nice!

Went to Cheeky Monkeys bar later, got pretty drunk, danced on tables tried to send video emails that didn't work and went home pretty early 12/1 :)

Australia; the GOLD COAST!

Sooooo exciting!! The Gold coast!! :) we got to our beautiful luxury 4* hotel in the evening and got ready for dinner. Dinner was amazing (again) I had Chicken Parmesan (or however its spelt!) And we had dessrt too! Was meant to have cheesecake but ended up with apple pie :( oh well

We then went to a club called Vanity, which was really pretentious and snooty! The waitresses were wearing underwear.. Gorgeous but bitchy! The music was good though, actual music! Not crazy trance or cheesy pop for once! There was even some hip hop in there! :)

They do free drinks for girls 9-11.. Sounds good but its the worst in the WORLD! They give u glasses filled with ice, half a shot and u have to have a mixer!! Impossible to keep downing! After about 4 I wasn't even tipsy, just full of coke and cranberry juice! Boo.

So..the night started out slow, but then we got started on the wine :) omg it got messy! Snuck into VIP, kicked outta VIP, dancing with loadsa guys, kicked outta club n drunken walk back 2 our hotel! Lol loadsa fun!

Anyway, I probably don't need 2 say that the next day I was hungover again..had the option to go to theme parks or water parks but just couldn't! Really wanted to go to a water park though..next time! I'm glad I had a chilled out day.

We walked around the main street, looked in some shops and relaxed on the beach! Had the most amazing view from our hotel.. What a lucky girl I am! :)

Australia; Brisbane

Quick one for Brisbane.. Only got to walk around for a couple of hours but I LOVED IT!! We went to Red Rooster for lunch, which I'm assuming is Australian and then went on a walking tour.

It was sooo much like London! We walked across a bridge over a river like the Thames, you look across and see a wheel just like the London Eye, and it looks just like South Bank.. and its actually called South bank too! Copycats!!

There was a beautiful man made beach and we went to a beautiful garden and saw ugly birds and lizards! Unfortunately we had to leave :( but were going to the GOLD COAST!!!

Australia; Fraser Island

Got the ferry to Fraser island, only took about 45mins. We got there pretty late so just got ready for dinner which was amazing again..MEXICAN :) had a bit of a party and of course I drank too much again!

Next day we went on a 4x4 bus into the rainforest. Had a walk through and saw creeks with freshwater you could actually drink. We then went to Lake Mckenzie which was sooo beautiful! Silica sand and clear water.

That night we went down to the pier to watch the sunset and had an early night to try and get rid of my STUPID COLD! Got the ferry back the next morning, didn't see any Dingoes though :(

Australia; Emu Park, Kroombit Farm

Went to Emu Park on the 2nd, it was basically a stop to break up our driving. Had an amazing dinner in nice accommodation then we had a TOGA PARTY! :)

Got realllly drunken again, we all wore togas and everyone had their own spin on it. There was a shot wheel and we could dance on the bar. It was BOILING in the bar though..there was a noise curfew after a certain time and we all got sent home at like midnight!

Next day 3rd nov, long drive to the outback. Stopped off in Rockhampton, the 'beef capital of Australia', saw statues of bulls, some with balls, some without lol.

Got to Kroombit Park and had a steak lunch straight away YUM.. Got ready and got on horses to do some goat mustering! It was really fun, but I was a bit nervous! Didn't wanna fall off my horse! Mine was called Rusty I loved him! :) we all wore cowboy hats and bandannas..looked like proper cowboys :) we had to all chant 'hey bub bub bub' to the goats to get them herded!

Then we did goat rodeo..in the goat pen we were in groups of 3, one was a lassooist, one caught the goat and one branded. I branded and we were on the winning team! I am officially the worst lassoist ever lol.

We had a mystery meat later, but I knew it was goat lol.. I am from the West Indies. I was ill so I missed out on whip cracking and the mechanical bull but its all good. I was sooo tired!

Australia; Sailing on the Whitsundays

Very very VERY hungover lol and had to leave to get our boat REALLY early.. Got to our boat in the afternoon and the boat hardly looked big enough to fit us all in never mind beds for us to sleep on!

We did some sailing which was mad coz the yacht would tilt so far to one side and we would all have to sit on the other so we wouldn't fall off!

We all bought wine in bags or GOON for the boat so got all that in the evening. Got pretty drunk n did some halloween face painting.

Next day 1st Nov we went to Luncheon bay to do snorkelling. Saw a couple of fishies, mainly a blue one with yellow tails.. Looked a bit like Dory lol. Later we went to Whitehaven beach on Whitsunday island.. It was BEAUTIFUL! Had a play in the water besides being a bit scared of jellyfish and stuff on the water.

Back on the boat ready for sleeping on the boat again. Had a go at putting the sail up, was pretty hard work!! Drank some more Goon and had a pretty early night!

Next morning we had breakfast and got off the boat, felt good to be on dry land!

Woo hoo Whitsundays!

Australia; Cairns

After a very bumpy and squished plane ride I finally got to Cairns :) got to Gilligans hostel at about 12pm, I intended on having a walk around but ended up sleeping til 6!

Went down for a free dinner which was disgusting! MEANT to be cottage pie! Randomly met up with someone on my tour starting the next day so we stayed downstairs at the bar and had a few drinks. We met 2 guys who were constanly buying drinks but 1 of them were ridiculously forward! Starting to realise its an Australian thing!

Next day 29th I wasn't feeling too hungover and I had an introductionary meeting with my tour group. All really lovely. We went to Kurunda and went to a kind of Zoo. I cuddled a Koala - he was like a real live teddy bear :)

That night I went on a party bus which went to the main bars in Cairns, loads of fun but I did it all alone so was pretty shy to begin with but made friends pretty easily. Had a bit of a messy night so was hungover the next day.

Luckily I didn't do much, walked down to the lagoon, Cairns is beautiul! Went to the pool at Gilligans and got a free BBQ :)

Later I finally went out with my group! We went for dinner at Rattle and hum which was nice then went onto the Woolshed for drinks which was lots of fun. I got involved in a couple of games - blind date and dildo racing lol. A pretty messy night soooooooo hungover the next day had to leave at 6am!

Thai island hopping; back to Phuket; Patong, back to Bangkok, Onto OZ!

Our trip to Phuket was really long! Took about 4 hours and changed our mini bus twice. But we got there in the end! We decided to stay at Patong beach this time.

I'm glad we did! It was BUZZING! The nightlife and the beach! The beach was beautiful and we went on a jet ski. I didn't drive! Still fun though!

Couldn't stay long on the beach because the sun was going down but it was long enough to enjoy it.

Later we took a walk down to the city where there were millions of clubs/bars and restaurants! Proper buzzing! No clubbing for us though, we just did a bit (more) shopping and went home.

Next day and we had our flight to Bangkok, went well again - really quick and we stayed on Khosan road this time. Didn't do much, I got my hair plaited and yet again bought more stuff!!

Next day and I'm GOING TO OZ!! Scary times again of not knowing what to do at the airport lol. My flight goes to Sydney first (9hours) and then another flight to Cairns (3hours) - LONGness!!

Thai island hopping; Krabi, Ao Nang

Our mini bus to Krabi was meant to come for us at 12 but it ended up coming at 1:40! Which meant we didn't get to Krabi til the evening.

Went for a walk around, millions of shops selling the SAME things! Bought a lot of presents. We had dinner at a Indian/Italian restaurant - I had Indian and my friend had an Indian calzone pizza lol. Later we just sat and chilled at a bar where there was live music :)

Next day 23rd McDonalds breakfast! :) changed hotel room to a proper luxury place, the kinda place you'd pay couple hundred pounds for in London!

Went straight to the beach, really nice beach, very calm. We walked around some more and had icecream. More italian that night, had a really nice Calzone.

Next day 24th, Burger King breakfast!! Before going Kayaking! :)
It was really fun, we kayaked around Mangrove forests and through caves and stuff. Only did half day so came back for lunch and had a little nap before going out for dinner.

Actually randomly met up with 3 couples we met! One from my indochina tour, one from Maya bay and one from Kayaking. Went for dinner with 2 of them and had icecream.

Thai Island Hopping; Koh Lanta

OK, so we had already had 2 nights in Phi Phi and decided to have 3.. We then changed our mind about midnight on night 2.. So in the morning we booked our ferry to Koh Lanta for 2 hours later.

My friend (stupidly) took the tour guy's offer of accomodation at 'Lanta new beach bungalows' for a reduced price. The leaflet made it look really good though!

Anyway, the ferry only took 1hr 20 and we got a free transfer to the hotel, it was like we were in the middle of nowhere!

The hotel wasn't great, not very clean and it was thundering and raining. We were next to the beach though, but it wasn't very nice..what a dissapointment, when I've heard such good things about Lanta! Were inbetween Pra-ae beach and Klong Khoang beach.

After some quick research on my phone we decided to find accomodation tomorrow on Klong Dao beach.

That night we didn't do much, went for dinner and I had a pancake :) and I had one cocktail.. Called Lanta colour :)

Next day 21st was MORE LIKE IT! We checked out at 11 had breakfast then got a cab to Klong Dao beach, wikitravel said it was becoming the most popular beach on Koh Lanta. We found some NICE accomodation - Lanta sea house.

Lanta is anything but touristy, for the first time it reminded me of the non touristy parts of Laos. We took a walk down the road and it looked very 'local' with the odd restaurant and 7/11.

We went to the beach, which was so nice! Really shallow so we went far out and the waves were HUGE and rough! Got seriously knocked down so much, I lost a bracelet and an earring! Then we came out and went in the pool and it started raining HARD! I just stayed in the pool in the rain til it started thundering!! Ran inside!!

Later we went to dinner down the road at a place called 'Fat Monkey' - the best food so far! I had pasta and it tasted sooooo good! They did gormet burgers and stuff too. Yumyum.. And I had lime juice :) just like my mum makes it! Mmmmmmm.. Refreshing! Lol

Thai Island hopping; Phi Phi

Got our ferry to Phi Phi from Phuket at 12pm, it was really nice, took 2 hours in total. Just sat on the side of the boat the whole time; I think we got the best view!

When we got to PhiPhi we had no idea where to stay! But there were loads of travel advisor people to help us. We decided to stay at Dalum bay instead of Tonsai bay. We got a really nice bungalow called Uphill for 800 bhat a night, not too close to the beach so we didn't get disturbed by the noise from the beach clubs but only 3 mins away.

As we got into Phi Phi at around 4, when we went to the beach the sun was beginning to go down. It was still. Nice though; the tide was way out so we walked through the water and it was like walking on water!

Later we went for dinner at Ciao Bella, had italian which was really nice on the beach then went to a couple of bars and saw people playing with fire.

Next day 19th, we booked a tour which took us to Monkey beach, where monkeys just randomly live lol, Viking cave, Pi-Leh bay, Loh Samah bay (where we snorked and swam a few times) and Maya bay for 3 hours - The Beach beach!! :) it was all beautiful!! Saw so many fish!

Came. Back knackered but decided to go to Tonsai bay for dinner. I had a pizza and we ate alongside the beachfront. Later we went to the Reggae bar where there was thai boxing. Funny stuff! Going to Koh Lanta tomorrow!

Thai Island Hopping; Phuket

Our flight was sooo short! It took about an hour and a half. We flew with Bangkok airways and they even fed us! Got into Phuket about 10pm and after an hour drive we were finally at our hotel. Really nice hotel! We didn't do anything for the night.

Next day 17th, we went down for breakfast and half way through we were told that we paid for room only! Despite being given breakfast vouchers! Anyway they let us off. Afterwards we went to Karon beach, it was really hot and the water was sooo rough! Really really nice though! We stayed on the beach for a few hours then took a nap at the hotel before going into Phuket town.

It was sooo expensive to go into Phuket town, we paid 450 baht to get there and 600 to get home - about 20pounds!! Wasn't even worth it, I guess it was good to see though! We ate at this really nice thai restaurant and then had a drink at an English guy's bar..played connect 4 lol. Got our boat ride to Phi Phi tomorrow! :)

Indochina Discovery; South East Asia survival tips!

Survival tips:

ALWAYS have tissue on you, you won't get any at the toilets.

Be prepared for some really disgusting toilets! Most are squat toilets on the floor, so practise your squatting technique!

Bring loads of immodium and Rennie - you WILL get a stomach ache!

Bring flu and cold medicine, you will most likely get ill. Oh and vicks also helps too. Oh and strepsils!

You only need 3 pairs of shoes - flip flops, trainers/plimsols and sandals. If they're waterproof even better.

You need a rain coat!

The best thing I ever did was bring a backpack with wheels. I haven't had to use it as a backpack ONCE! Just pulled it around everywhere!

Bring 1/2 warm jumpers and 1/2 long leggings - the journeys on bus get pretty cold.

Bring lots of US dollars - you can use it everywhere in Cambodia and easily exchange them when you get to the Vietnam and Laos border. You can also use them to pay for your Laos visa.

Bring a torch! I brought 2. 1 in my rucksack and a tiny one for my handbag in emergencies, you WILL need it!

Bring a scarf.. To use as a scarf and for other things like covering questionable pillows and covering up shoulders for temples. I used it when I had to ice a swollen knee.

All the accommodation has been great! Air con, towels, tv. Just not many hairdriers. Bring one if you need it.

Bring loads of insect repellent and cream for insect bites.

The only adaptor I used for all countries was the straight 2 pin plug. I used an adaptor with 2 usb ports so I could charge my camera and my phone/ipod at the same time. Great when there aren't many plug sockets to go around!

Get a blackberry! The best thing for travelling! I'm on pay as you go on o2 and pay £5 a month for 10mb of net per day anywhere in the world!! This is providing there's wireless service, which there was except for some of Laos. With bbm, facebook, twitter whatsapp and email with me at all times, I was happy!

Be very careful when tubing in Laos, and watch your step when going over bamboo bridges! (I fell through one!)

Bring lots of antiseptic wipes, arnica for swelling (which I didn't bring!), and an antiseptic cream for infected cuts. Oh and some antibiotics.

Indochina Discovery; Back to Bangkok!

Got off our luxury bus at Bangkok at around 7am. It was very wet, but I can't see any flooding yet! The floods are meant to be moving down to Bangkok!

Had a rest at the hotel then went out to Koh San Road for lunch and a walk around, left in the pouring rain, but after a while it was blazing hot! Walking round brought back memories of being here 2 years ago :) I saw 'the club' which we went to, the lip glosses we bought, the thai boxing shorts I got for my friend's sons.. Awww.

We had some food then walked around, I bought 2 dresses and 2 pairs of earrings and got a bikini wax.. For sooo cheap!!

Went out for dinner later in a tuk tuk in the POURING rain, and I mean pouring! Got soaked sitting in it but not as wet as our tour leader sitting in front of me on the floor!

We ate at a macaroni place and I got pasta yumyum! Went on to a bar and bought loads of crap from the harrassing sellers, a magic wallet :) a silver bracelet, a fabric bracelet saying Fuck you long time lol, and Rachel bought a ridiculous hat! We went onto 'the club' and its not at all what I remembered, the music was really annoying!

Next day 15th I did NOTHING! Check out of my room and into another and just nursed my hangover! My friend came from London to meet me and he arrived at 9pm, we went to Khosan road (again!) And had KFC!!

Next day 16th, we had to check out at 12, and yes.. We went to Khosan road AGAIN! Shopped some more and ate at a lower than good standard place! Walked around looking for accommodation for my final night back in Bangkok on the 26th.

Woohoo! Were flying to Phuket 2nite!! Flights at 8pm, 1 and a half hours.

Indochina Discovery; Northern Thailand, Chang Mai

Left at 7:30am to get the bus from the border town of Chiang Kong. We got there at about 1pm but stopped off at a couple of places.

One was a temple - the white temple, which was amazingly beautiful on the outside - all white with mirror shards. The inside was interesting, huge 'artsy' painting on the wall of devilish huge eyes and stuff and the twin towers and other monuments interspersed with random cartoons of ben 10, MJ, spiderman, kung fu panda, saw! It was mad!

Next stop was a place called Cabbage and condoms (!) Its a restaurant that promoted safe sex.. Kinda wierd but interesting!

When we got to Chiang Mai we ate at a restaurant called Tiger Kingdom, and then went to Tiger Kingdom! We played with the tigers! It was so scary, I was with a giant tiger and when I was 'spooning' it, it kept kicking my hand! And it turned around! Thought it was gonna eat me! Lol was fun though, got some good pictures!

We had Mcdonalds for dinner and got on our overnight bus. It was amazing from the first minute! I've taken night buses in Thailand before and this was LUXURY! We had reclining seats with foot rests, loads of leg room, massage chair and got brought loads of snacks and drinks! Good times, gonna get to Bangkok at 7am tomorrow!

Indochina Discovery; byebye Laos, hello Northern Thailand. Pak Beng - Chiang Khong

We left Luang Prabang at 7:30am :s
Got on a boat up the Mekong river which took 10 hours! We made one stop at a Mong people's village which was nice. Loads of animals running round and kids!
We got to the town of Pak Beng at about 6pm and went for dinner at this sweet little place with hand made menus.
Afterwards we went to the only bar in town - hive bar, which was completely empty before we got in there but got really packed by the end! You could play your own music from your ipod so I played DJ for a bit :)
Next day was soooo bad! We left at 6am!! Omg I was so tired! I slept as soon as I got on the boat. Yes, our boat trip on the Mekong river continued! Another 10 hours but this time we will be crossing into Thailand.
We got off the boat on the Laos side of the river to stamp out then got a longtail boat across the river to Northern Thailand to stamp in.
We got to our hotel and a couple of girls swam in the river :s I think that my knee is now infected so I'm not gonna risk it!
Later we went for a walk for dinner, bought some stuff from 7/11, but couldn't find any restaurants open! Apparently its a festival day. We ate at the hotel which was ok.

Indochina Discovery; Laos, Luang Prabang

Well my leg hasn't dropped off yet! But the bus ride to Luang Prabang was the worst ever! It was 7 hours long and really wind-y and bumpy, I mean REALLY! Like I couldn't stay in my seat, I got travel sick, it was ridiculous!
As soon as we got back the hotel all I did was rest in pain all the live long day. Barely got out of bed! Just looked after my knee :(
I didn't eat the whole day though, couldn't even get to a shop!
Next day, 10th, I still couldn't walk without it hurting loads so I went down for breakfast and our tour leader kindly said he would ride me on a bike into town :) good old Pok!
I walked around for a bit but couldn't do it for long and definately couldn't do it quickly! Went into a few shops, bought a little keyring doll from a little girl for 'luck' (I sure need it!) And ate the best burger from a bakery. Mmm
After that just came back to the hotel and rested again. Need to make sure it gets somewhat better as tomorrow were on a boat up the mekong river, 10 hours TOMORROW continuing the next day!! Boi.
The others went out for dinner and drinking, they tried to convince me to go but thought it best to rest. I stayed in with a bottle of beer lao :)

4 hour drive from Vientiene to Vang Vieng. It was so bumpy! But I think I'm getting used to it now!!
Got to the hotel in the afternoon and decided to do tubing tomorrow and go visit caves today. However, when we went for lunch it PELTED down with rain! We planned on getting motorbikes. I changed my mind right there and then, I was still sick too.
The others went off and got motorbikes to the caves. When they came back I was sooo glad I didn't go along! Bikes were breaking down, people falling off bikes, bumpy roads, muddy roads and puddles, and the cave had loads of insects in it :/ there was a white spider apparently! I woulda been soooo scared!
I spent the day in the room on the net drinking whiskey :)
Later we went for 'Happy pizza' for dinner.
Next day 8th TUBING! We spent the morning at a traditional Laos 'baby christening' obviously not a christening but it was to celebrate a 15 day old (really cute) baby!
We sat on the floor and listened to what I assume as prayers, and sticky rice and chicken was passed around to eat, then we had white string tied around everyones wrists including the baby's. Its meant to mean good fortune good luck etc. (Something that didn't work for me later on in the day!) We were forced to drink alcohol and eat loads of food despite eating a large breakfast! Good food though, really nice atmosphere.
Left at about half 11 (halfway drunk lol) and went to get changed for tubing. We had to walk to the tube shop and pay for it with a deposit for the tube. I'd already assumed I wouldn't be bringing my tube back!
We got in a tuktuk to the top of the river and then tubes in hand went on a boat across to the first bar. It was really fun, drinking buckets, dancing and playing in the water. Stayed there for a while, then got on our tubes :)
It took me a while to get in mine so I was drifting away from the others, luckily I got pulled in just in time! By a rope with a water bottle at the end lol.
More funtimes at starbar. Got 1 bucket and got 1 free which I didn't want, managed to sell it to someone. We were just messin about again running into waterfalls and jumping about. Was so much fun!
Got into our tubes again which was sooo funny coz there was like 10 of us all tryna stay together! 1 person was holding my food and I was holding someones finger!
More madness again at the next place, people were TOO drunk and it got pitch black. There was arguing, people hanging from wires, jumping in the river. Boi. So the bar shut and I wanted 2 go by land home, but everyone else (about 15 of us) wanted to tube, so I had to. There was 5 of us on the tube, I was shit scared! But we made it to the end.
All I remember after that was climbing up some funky stairs and walking across a bamboo bridge. My right leg went through the bridge and my leg was stuck at the knee. I was balling my eyes out n screaming. They tried to pull my leg out I've never felt pain like that b4! They tried to break it n used a crow bar to get me out. So relieved. My knee swelled up to like double its size.. Fingers crossed it will go down soon! Needless to say I went straight to bed after!
